Saturday & Sunday

Had a really relaxing week. Didn't do much. Saturday morning I woke up pretty late and I decided to go to the market. I didn't intend to buy anything, but being at the market, I couldn't resist buying some groceries. I bought beansprouts, prunes, cabbage and a pillow! Yes, a pillow for 15 euros. That's because the pillow provided is so flat I wake up with a painful throat almost every morning. There's no support on my neck so my head tilts back and my mouth wide open vulnerable to cockroaches and lizard poo. Thankfully, I haven't seen either here. I'm quite sure my room would be infested with them if they are here because of the amount of food I keep in my room.

So anyway, back to the market. It's kinda funny seeing Dong Joo compare prices for every item. I've slowly lost that enthusiasm to compare prices of the vegetables with that of SG. I just have to accept it. Half kg of tauge (beansprouts) cost 75 cents. I bet mum would kill me for buying. Haha. 75 cents for a small head of cabbage. And 5 prunes for 1 euro. A bit expensive la. It was a nice day and I was wearing my new windbreaker. Dong Joo bought 4 packets of snacks for me because he said he has been eating my snacks in my room so he would buy some for me. After we were done with the market, I suggested coffee in the city centre, since it was such a beautiful day. So we went to V&D, an emporium which has a nice cafe. They had a combo of coffee + fruit tart for 3 euros. Quite reasonable or even cheaper than Singapore. But drip coffee, no espresso. So I gave that cup of coffee to Dong Joo and ordered a Latte for myself. Shiok!
He ordered a foccacia sandwich with tuna filling and I ordered an "Appelbol" (Apple ball literally) even though I'm not sure what it was.

The fruit tart was really tasty, the sandwich was average (though the bread was good) and the apple ball had an apple in it! It's like apple soaked in sugar syrup and deep fryed with a layer of cinnamon dough. It was sinfully sweet but sure tastes good. But it's not cheap la, 2.4 euros for that apple. Then again, desserts in Singapore are usually SGD4.5 - 6.5. So I guess it's comparable lor. Besides, I don't eat that everyday. =P
